Prepare the files before opening the merger
On an iPhone, merging works best when the source PDFs are already easy to locate in the Files app, iCloud Drive, or another location available through the browser’s file picker. This is convenient for a few receipts, application attachments, short reports, or documents received by email.
The available memory and browser behaviour vary with device, file size, and document complexity. For very large, image-heavy PDFs, a computer may be more comfortable; for ordinary document sets, a compact workflow on the phone can be enough.
How to merge PDF files on an iPhone
- Locate the source PDFs. Save the required documents in a folder you can find from the browser’s file picker. Confirm that the files are PDFs and that you are selecting the current versions.
- Open MergePDF in an updated browser. Load the studio and choose the PDFs. When the files appear in the queue, use their names and page counts to check that the intended documents were selected.
- Arrange, name, and merge. Set the reading order, enter a filename that describes the document, then start the merge. Avoid switching away repeatedly while a large set is processing, particularly if the browser or device is under memory pressure.
- Find and open the download. Use the browser’s download controls or the Files app to locate the finished PDF. Open it once to confirm that it saved properly and that the pages and file order look right before sharing it.
Make the mobile result easy to handle
Use a short, descriptive filename and keep the output in a folder associated with the task. If the PDF is intended for email or a portal, check the file size and any submission requirements before sending it. Local browser processing means the selected PDF contents are not uploaded to a MergePDF processing server.
Know the limits before choosing a phone
Merging combines complete source PDFs; it does not compress the output, run OCR, or select individual pages. A high-resolution scan set can be resource-intensive on mobile, and password-protected or damaged files may fail. If the browser runs out of memory or the download is awkward to manage, retry with a smaller batch or use a computer.
